The Northern Arts Club (NAC) are delighted to announce the launch of their 2024 creative programme.
The aim of this exciting programme is to provide subsidised prices for events and workshops, to encouraging the attendance of members and other local Artists.
This has been made possible because of the generous funding offered by local sponsors, and will help our artists to develop their skills, extend their network and grow their artistic opportunities.
This programme has been a long-term aim of NAC which has now been made possible because of funding provided by our local benefactor.
This financial support will be used to underwrite the cost of engaging Artists to provide workshops and teaching at the Northern Arts Club.
The first in the series of events will be held over the weekend of 10th -12th May, facilitated by Artist, Jonathan Shearer:
Illustrated TALK
On Friday 10th May at 7:00 – 9:00pm, Jonathan will deliver an Illustrated talk, entitled “Extreme Painting” with an in-depth look at his process as a Plein-air painter working in some of the remotest areas of the Scottish Highlands.

2-Day Workshop
This will be followed by a 2-Day Workshop on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May (10:00 – 4:30pm). Saturday will look at a variety of ways to develop paintings from sketches to larger works. Scaling up, composition, tonal values and understanding colour will also be explored. On Sunday 12th May (10:00 – 4:30pm). Painting ‘En Plein Air’ – (weather dependent), will look at a variety of approaches to drawing and painting outdoors. From sketch books to working on a larger scale, and what equipment to take and use while working outside. .
Talk and 2-day Workshop is open to non-members with reduced rates for members.
