February Art Challenge

The challenge this month was based on a photograph of the Tomnaverie Stone Circle near Tarland. The large recumbent stone is flanked by two upright stones making a strong composition.

The views of this landscape are sweeping and dramatic with Lochnagar glimpsed in the distance. Artwork could be submitted in any medium and it was fantastic to see 13 different interpretations of the same photograph. The wide range of mediums used, ranging from oil paints, oil crayons, mixed media, inks and watercolour have captured in their own way the north-eastern light and the ancient site.
